The Archipelago is a land of mountains and rivers, temples and fortresses— a world of samurai, monks, merchants, and mystics caught between duty and desire.
For centuries, the Yōkai —monsters, and trickster beings — were held at bay by compacts with the Kami and by wards inscribed by ancient sages. Now, Yōkai walk in human guise, corrupting towns, temples, and even the palaces of the mighty. Everywhere, honour falters. Priests betray their vows, generals their lords, courtiers their kin. The ancient order is corrupted from within and without.
In The Yōkai Hack, you take the role of warriors, monks, sorcerers, courtiers, and rogues. You may defend the old shrines or exploit the chaos for your own gain. But beware: every broken oath weakens the boundary between the human world and the underworld. Steel alone cannot decide the fate of the Archipelago. The struggle is for its very soul.
