THE DANAAN CLERIC
Danaan Clerics are Neutral Clerics of Celtic pagan faith. They worship Nature and Neutrality, as represented by the gods known as the Tuatha De Danaan (Tribe of Dana), notably Nuada Silverhand, Lug Longhand, Ogmos, Morrigan and Dian Cecht. They oppose the priests of both Law and Chaos. They preserve a secret language and alphabet known as ‘Ogham’ and hold trees to be divine. They are often referred to as 'druids' but are distinct from the Druid class.
Armour & Weapon Restrictions
Danaan Clerics can wear any armour and in addition to blunt weapons they can wield spears and scimitars (1d6 damage), including magical versions of these.
Spell Casting
Danaan Clerics cast the same spells as ordinary Clerics and can use good or evil versions of spells, deciding which effect to use when the spell is cast. However, they do not record their spells in writing and cannot use Scrolls with clerical spells.
Turning Undead and the Fey
Danaan Clerics can turn mindless undead (only) but also Fey creatures. They can attempt to force Fey creatures into servitude, in the same way Chaotic Clerics rule Undead. They have no power over self-willed undead (Wights or stronger).
In some campaigns, Goblins may be <1HD fey, hobgoblins 2HD fey and bugbears 4HD fey.
Heart Companion
A Danaan Cleric has a heart-companion which is a wild animal or Fey creature. The companion has Hit Dice equal to the druid’s Hit Dice +1, is AC 6 [13] and attacks with a bite, gore, trample, etc for 1d6 damage. The Heart-Companion understands the Danaan Cleric's instructions and can perform tasks (scout, carry messages, etc.) but it cannot speak. If the Danaan Cleric goes up a level and gains a Hit Die, the heart-companion gains another Hit Die too.
If the heart-companion dies, the druid loses 1HP per Hit Dice possessed but may summon another in 1d6 days.
NB. This ability is in place of the 'God's Weapon' enjoyed by ordinary Clerics (c.f. Expanded Lore, p.27).
If the heart-companion dies, the druid loses 1HP per Hit Dice possessed but may summon another in 1d6 days.
NB. This ability is in place of the 'God's Weapon' enjoyed by ordinary Clerics (c.f. Expanded Lore, p.27).
Saving Throws
Danaan Clerics gain a +2 bonus against Poison or Paralysis. They also gain +2 on saving throws against the powers of Fey creatures.
Establish Temple
At 10th level, the Danaan Cleric can construct a Temple and attract followers, who may include Fey creatures (Wood Elves, Gnomes, Centaurs, Dryads, etc).
Trauma
Danaan Clerics do not gain Trauma from sighting Fey creatures (including Sidhe and the shrieks of Banshees) and offer Spiritual Comfort, helping patients recover from Derangements.
Danaan Cleric Feats
Danaan Clerics choose from the same Feats as other Clerics but can also choose from the following:
Druidic Lore: You may cast one 1st level Druid spell per day in addition to your Clerical spells.
Fae Heart: Your Heart Companion may be a Fey creature (unicorn, faerie dragon, etc.) with the power of invisibility once a day.

Herbalist: When binding wounds you may restore up to 1d6+1 HP; when you apply First Aid to a patient with a Fatal Wound, they save at +2.
